Trees

I drive by this lot of trees almost everyday.  I love the symmetry that the arrangement offers.

Black and White at Crown Hill

I was inspired by the cold, snow and Edgar Allen Poe's birthday on Thursday.  For some reason I was feeling gothic as I took these.

The gates.

This scene reminded me of one from a movie.

Classic photo of flowers at a grave.

I really like this one.

This photo and the one below is the same memorial.   I could not pick which picture I enjoy more.

This tombstone was very welcoming...weird.

I wanna go where the weather is warm.

Round Three

Took a trip north along US 31 in Indiana.  We hit the county seats of Fulton, Howard, Marshall, Miami, Tipton and St. Joseph counties (not in that order)!  I discovered some interesting history along the way.  In 1838, Gov. Wallace of Indiana ordered the removal of several hundred Potowani Indians.  The natives were marched across Indaina, Illinois, Missouri and into Kansas.  Many died along the way, hence the name Trail of Death.  Some historians believe more escaped than perished.  The caravan went through Rochester, IN along Main Street.  In front of the courthouse in Rochester a plaque stands along with four big rocks with the name of the states that the caravan passsed through chiseled into the boulders.

Enoug history.  Here are the photos.  First off, Fulton County in Rochester.

One of the boulders commerotating the Trail of Death.

These sentries were carved by hand on location when the courthose was being built.
Howard County, Kokomo.

Howard County.

Marshall County, in beautiful Plymouth, IN.

A mini Lady Liberty.

Miami County.

Peru is the county seat of Miami County.  Also famous as the winter resting grounds for several traveling circuses back in the day.

St Joseph County.  South Bend is the county seat.

Lady Liberty, again.

Who said Tipton didn't have any skyscrapers?

Tipton County's county seat is...you guessed it, Tipton!
