Here's the courthouse for Vigo County, in Terre Haute. 

If you ever visit Terre Haute, visit the Candles Museum. Its a museum about the Holocaust and is run by an amazin women and survivor of the Holocaust. Here's a link to the website:  www.candlesholocaustmuseum.org

#26, Gibson County

Just off Highway 41, about 30 minutes north of Evansville, is Princeton.  Princeton is the county seat of Gibson County. The courthouse is gorgeous. The  courthouse square is nice and tidy. I noticed Gibson County offered audio tours of historical buildings and sights within the county. The courthouse is on the tour, as well, Lyles Station. Lyles Station was Indiana's first black settlement. In 1849, Joshua Lyles, a former slave from Tennessee, founded the community. Lyles Station is located a few minutes away from the courthouse. 

I love to use gritty alleys to frame the courthouses.

In many cases, limestone and brick were used to save money on construction costs. 

This just caught my eye. Also, in the shot, is an antique store. I think 75% of the courthouse squares I have visited, there is an antique shop.

 

#19, Dubois County

The Dubois County courthouse sits a few blocks away from State Road 231 in Jasper. The courthouse square is buzzing with people and a great little shops. The square was decorated for the coming Easter holiday when I took these photographs. 

Jasper is full of German heritage and has one of my favorite Mexican restaurants, Los Bravos. 

Down the road in Huntingburg, you will find an old baseball stadium, League Stadium, used during the production of "A League of Their Own." The Dubois County Dragons played there when I was a news photographer in Evansville. In the early 2000s, the team moved to Wisconsin. Huntingburg was the smallest market in the Frontier League, and struggled with attendance. After the 2002 season, the team moved to Kenosha.

#3, Bartholomew County

Columbus, Indiana is the home of Tony Stewart, fabulous architecture and the county seat of Bartholomew County. J. Irwin Miller, a former CEO of Cummins, Inc. encouraged architects to design buildings in Columbus by paying their fees. Its worth a trip to see the buildings and this courthouse.

This bridge heading into downtown Columbus framed the courthouse just right!
