#19, Dubois County

The Dubois County courthouse sits a few blocks away from State Road 231 in Jasper. The courthouse square is buzzing with people and a great little shops. The square was decorated for the coming Easter holiday when I took these photographs.

Jasper is full of German heritage and has one of my favorite Mexican restaurants, Los Bravos.

Down the road in Huntingburg, you will find an old baseball stadium, League Stadium, used during the production of "A League of Their Own." The Dubois County Dragons played there when I was a news photographer in Evansville. In the early 2000s, the team moved to Wisconsin. Huntingburg was the smallest market in the Frontier League, and struggled with attendance. After the 2002 season, the team moved to Kenosha.

#3, Bartholomew County

Columbus, Indiana is the home of Tony Stewart, fabulous architecture and the county seat of Bartholomew County. J. Irwin Miller, a former CEO of Cummins, Inc. encouraged architects to design buildings in Columbus by paying their fees. Its worth a trip to see the buildings and this courthouse.

This bridge heading into downtown Columbus framed the courthouse just right!

Over the weekend I made stops in Gibson, Martin, Posey, Dubois, Hancock and Vanderburgh cointies. Stay tuned!

#36, Jackson County

Project 92 continues with a stop in Brownstown. Jackson County is the home of Hoosier rocker John Mellencamp, who grew up in nearby Seymour. Jackson County was estalished in June of 1816, about six months before Indiana became a state.

I'll be hitting the road to southwestern Indiana later this week. I'm looking forward to photographing several courthouses in that region.

#88, Washington County

Washington County is located in southern Indiana.
 Its county seat is Salem.
This is its courthouse.

Morgan's Raid came through Salem, during the Civil War. The only action on Hoosier soil during that war.

Josie!

Hey everyone!
Meet Josie.

Big smile!

Mommy smooches!

There's no place like home!

#72, Scott County

I've been lazy with my posts. Excluding this one, I have three counties to post from a short road trip I did in October. Those  courthouse photos are edited and I just finished three more. So, I'll try to more on top of it!

Just off I-65 in southern Indiana, is the small town of Scottsburg. Scottsburg is the county seat of Scott County. In the mid- to late 90s, the courthouse had a little face-lift and an addition to the building.
